| Pinocchio is the world famous wooden puppet, invented by writer Carlo Lorenzini -who wrote under the name "Carlo Collodi" - transformed by magic into a real child. The hamlet of Collodi sits on the side of a hill forested with olive trees and boasts pictoresque and interesting sights. Its oldest part climbs the steep side of the hill, the more recent climbs down to the plain, arriving just behind the Villa Garzoni. A 17th century country house of the Garzoni family, noted for its historical gardens with original fountains and baroque landscaping. In the modern part of the little town you can also find the famous restaurant "Osteria del Gambero Rosso" and Pinocchio amusement park, where Pinocchio's tale is illustrated by the masterpieces of world famous artists. |
